Grace Under Pressure

Dress #2: The Ballerina
Designer: Serge Jimenez (the mannequin is lying!!! loljk)
Dress Details: It being a classic tutu, Sir Serge stuck with the original cut which was a sweetheart cut corset tube top and layered tulle for the base. The fabrics were in a white-gold shade and it has an open-back wherein a ribbon is used for easy adjustment. Personally, the bead work, which was a mix of bronze and white crystals and sequins, looks tacky when seen up close, but besides that the dress is pretty perfect!

Here's a random fact about me: I've been on the hunt for the perfect ballerina dress ever since I could remember. Being a self-admitted shopaholic, I knew searching for something so refined in RTW stores would be a long shot and so I told myself that if I wanted the quintessential tutu, it had to be custom made. Junior year came and I knew that prom was the perfect opportunity to put the plan in action. With my electric yellow dress not being up to par, I went for a second attempt for my Senior year prom which ended so badly I had to buy a new dress two weeks before prom! Graduation ball required a bit more elegance so I opted for a serpentina cut dress (saaaaaay wha?). Having received the go signal from my parents, I knew that my debut was my last chance (unless I want to dress up as a ballerina for my wedding, which I totally wouldn't mind). Two months and a couple of revisions later, I donned my almost perfect tutu to what may seem to be my grandest event yet. My ballerina look on my debut epitomized the Christine that everyone saw not only for that night but for the past seventeen years as well - someone with grace under pressure. Moral of the story? Everything happens for a reason. Even though it costed me thousands and two failed attempts, I am glad to have debuted as a young woman in a figure which was very me all along.
